It all starts in Marrakech
Some colors adorn.
Others tell a story.
Majorelle Blue is one of those colors instantly recognizable. Deep, luminous, and intensely vibrant, it is today one of the most famous symbols of Marrakech and the Moroccan art of living.
At Chabi Chic, this color runs through several of our collections as a tribute to our city, its heritage, and the craftsmanship of the artisans who perpetuate this cultural richness.
The birth of a unique color
The story begins in 1917, when French painter Jacques Majorelle discovered Marrakech.
Captivated by the city's exceptional light, its souks, its gardens, its natural pigments, and its architecture, he found an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
A few years later, he acquired a plot of land at the gates of the palm grove where he built his Art Deco-style villa-studio. It was there that he conceived a completely new shade of blue.
Observing the pigments of Moroccan markets, zelliges, Berber textiles, and light-bathed landscapes, he developed a deep and vibrant color that enhanced his garden.
In 1937, this shade was officially registered under the name Majorelle Blue.
A Symbol of Moroccan Art and Design
Over the decades, Majorelle Blue has become much more than a paint color.
It represents the soul of Marrakech.
Its intensity, depth, and luminosity evoke Moroccan gardens, artisan workshops, traditional riads, and the vibrant energy of the Red City.
Designers, artists, architects, and interior decorators around the world continue to draw inspiration from this iconic Moroccan blue.
Majorelle Blue at Chabi Chic
At Chabi Chic, Majorelle Blue holds a special place.
It doesn't just represent a color.
It expresses our attachment to Marrakech and our desire to bring Moroccan heritage to life through contemporary artisanal creations.
Applied by hand to our ceramics, it reveals reliefs, highlights traditional motifs, and brings remarkable depth to each piece.
Every plate, bowl, dish, cup, or vase becomes a true decorative piece where color dialogues with material.
Handcrafted Moroccan Ceramics Inspired by Tradition
Every Chabi Chic creation is handcrafted in Morocco using traditional ceramic techniques passed down through generations.
Each piece goes through multiple stages of shaping, hand painting, glazing, and firing before revealing the brilliance of Majorelle Blue.
Because every item is painted by hand, subtle variations make each ceramic truly one of a kind.
This artisan process reflects our commitment to preserving Moroccan craftsmanship while creating timeless pieces for contemporary interiors.
A color that enhances every table
Majorelle Blue immediately adds character to a decor.
Paired with white, natural, or gold tones, it creates an elegant and timeless ambiance.
It brightens a summer table, adds depth to contemporary decor, and evokes the iconic landscapes, patios, and gardens of Marrakech.
It is a color that transcends seasons without ever losing its elegance.
A Color That Tells a Story
At Chabi Chic, Majorelle Blue is more than a design choice.
It is a tribute to Marrakech, to Moroccan artisans, and to the creative legacy of Jacques Majorelle.
